The Sunshine Pleco originates from the Rio Xingu in Brazil. It is also known as the Goldie Pleco. The scientific of name Scobinancistrus aureatus refers to its golden color. Sunshine Plecos require clear water. They prefer water flow and substrate with round gravel. Sunshine Plecos like hiding places, such as caves. The Sunshine Pleco will eat sinking pellets, live blackworms and frozen bloodworms.

Adults are more faded in color. Males are slightly larger than females. Breeding is extremely difficult and Sunshines are obtained commercially in the wild in Brazil.
